Melissa Iachán is Counsel at Justice Catalyst Law, where she draws on her deep experience as a litigator and advocate to support innovative legal strategies aiming to improve equity and access to justice for vulnerable and low-income communities. Before joining JCL, Melissa led the legal work for the environmental justice program at a local civil rights non-profit, where her leadership led to the passage of numerous local laws advancing climate and environmental justice, as well as strategic litigation victories advancing racial equity in New York City. Previously, Melissa worked for the City of New York at the Mayor’s office and the Business Integrity Commission, and worked as a litigation associate in private practice in the areas of white collar defense, complex civil litigation and bankruptcy litigation. In addition to her legal experience, Melissa has experience in community organizing, political advocacy and government relations, and strategic communications. Melissa received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and her B.A. from Brown University. Melissa is based in New York City.
